Chi-Chi-Chi-Ha-Ha-HELLO! It is Friday the 13th, 2022, and we here at the Rotten Horror Picture Show thought it would be a perfect excuse to release the first episode of last year’s patreon coverage, the immortal slasher classic, Friday the 13th! We’re going all the way back to 1980 for this one, so get your short shorts and jump in the lake with us!
Crystal Lake’s history of murder doesn’t deter counselors from setting up a summer camp in the woodsy area. Superstitious locals warn against it, but the fresh-faced young people — Jack (Kevin Bacon), Alice (Adrienne King), Bill (Harry Crosby), Marcie (Jeannine Taylor) and Ned (Mark Nelson) — pay little heed to the old-timers. Then they find themselves stalked by a brutal killer. As they’re slashed, shot and stabbed, the counselors struggle to stay alive against a merciless opponent.
Join Clay and Amanda as they plummet to the depths of Steve Christie: The Original Never Nude, a really comfortable-looking cable-knight murder sweater, cultural insensitivity, casual terrible old hollywood impressions, being out-classed athletically by an old lady, Kevin Bacon, but nearly enough “Bacon Bits,” and EXCELLENT PARENTING.
Friday the 13th is truly a classic and is the film that launched a decade of imitators and innovators. This small independent Halloween copycat would go on to be one of the most prolific horror series of all time, and continues to scare generation after generation of fright flick fans. Though mommy’s favorite son doesn’t do the hacking this time around, in this, the first film of the series, Friday the 13th sets the template for all others, and paves the road for the reigning king of slasher villains: JASON VORHEES.
So do some drugs, have some premarital sex, go on a revenge-fueled killing spree and pitch a tent at Crystal Lake with us…if you dare!
